Health check

Before you visit Paleis Het Loo, we ask you to pay attention to the following and to postpone your visit when:

  • in the past 24 hours or at this time, you suffer from: nose cold, cough, shortness of breath and / or fever (from 38 degrees Celsius);
  • you have a housemate / family member with a fever and / or shortness of breath; you have had the coronavirus (diagnosed in the past 7 days with a laboratory test);

Plan your visit

Tickets: buy entrance tickets with timeslot in advance in the ticket shop. Parking is only possible if you have an e-ticket with time slot.
Start: please, do not come earlier than 10 minutes before the start of your timeslot. This way we keep the visitor flows clear and at a distance! You can stay as long as you like.
Entrance: after you have parked, you join the waiting boxes in front of the entrance building. We scan the tickets at the checkout. 1.5 meters: follow the walking routes and directions from the employees, then everything will be self-explanatory. Keep 1.5 meters away from other visitors and our employees.
Food and drink: the restaurant on the Stables Square, the Prins Hendrik Garage, is open. The number of tables is limited, our staff will give you a table on the spot, when available. Restaurant Balzaal is closed.

We are less accessible due to the corona measures and the palace renovation. For example, there is no shuttle bus and a visit to the Palace Roof is not possible.

There are no guided tours to guarantee a distance of 1.5 meters. The Children's Studio, the Museumshop and the Orange Walk are closed.

All our measures

To guarantee the safety of our visitors and employees, a number of choices have been made:

  • Volunteers will not be deployed until at least July 1.
  • The Children's Studio is closed. The 1.5 meter distance cannot be maintained here.
  • There is one-way traffic for the mini presentation Royals, Pets and Animals and the Coach Houses with royal transport.
  • There is no shuttle service available.
  • Mandatory walking routes are indicated where necessary to comply with a 1.5 meter distance. For example for incoming and outgoing visitors.
  • It is only allowed to come to the museum with more than 1 person if there is a group (people who jointly run a household or form a social unit).

  • Is there contact between visitors and employees?
    Contact between visitors and employees is avoided as much as possible by using e-tickets and parking tickets. If you have questions, we ask you to keep the appropriate distance.
  • Is there extra cleaning?
    Yes, our employees are around all day to clean toilets, benches and other touch surfaces. In addition, disinfectant hand gel is available at central locations or hand washing facilities have been realized.
  • How many people are allowed to visit Paleis Het Loo at the same time?
    The guidelines for museums are 1 visitor / group per 10 m2. For Paleis Het Loo, this amounts to 1,200 visitors.
  • How do I buy a ticket?
    All visitors are mandatory to buy a ticket online at our Dutch website. These are arranged according to arrival times so that we can spread the crowd of visitors.
  • Do I have to print the online tickets?
    No that is not necessary. The tickets can be scanned from your smartphone.
  • Where do I buy a parking ticket?
    Parking tickets are available at the cash register (contactless payment).
  • I already have free admission, do I have to book a ticket via
    Yes, you need a reservation with arrival time, admission remains free. You can book a € 0 ticket at a desired time via Please bring your subscription card or free ticket, otherwise the free ticket will not be valid. It concerns the following subscriptions: Museukaart, BankGiro Loterij VIP-kaart, Rembrandt, Vrienden, ICOM or free ticket.
  • Is Paleis Het Loo still accessible for people in a wheelchair?
    Yes, we are wheelchair accessible, but due to gravel in the gardens and the lack of the shuttle, we are not wheelchair friendly. Visitors in a wheelchair can book a € 0 ticket in the ticket shop. Escorts need a regular ticket. Wheelchairs are temporarily unavailable.
  • Why do I have to answer additional questions about corona when purchasing tickets?
    It is mandatory to ask all visitors about possible complaints about corona. That is for our safety and that of our visitors. If you have (mild) complaints, we would like to welcome you at a later time.

  • Can I change or cancel my purchased tickets?
    Unfortunately it is not possible to cancel tickets or change the date. Tickets purchased online are non-refundable, as said in our visitor conditions. If you have booked a € 0 ticket, we kindly ask you to send an e-mail to so that we can release the timeslot for other visitors.
  • I already have an online ticket and come with an extra person, can he / she enter at the same time?
    Yes, but only if tickets are still available online for that same time. You can only enter the museum with a valid ticket.
  • Can I make a reservation by phone?
    Unfortunately it is not possible to make a reservation by phone. Please, order your tickets on our Dutch website.

  • I have forgotten my ICOM card. Can I enter with my 0-euro ticket?
    If you have bought a € 0 ticket and you cannot show the pass at the access control, then unfortunately we cannot grant you access. We will ask you to buy a regular ticket.


  • Where can I park?
    Paleis Het Loo has a spacious private parking lot where only visitors who have a ticket for that day are allowed to park.
  • Can I park on the terrain of Paleis Het Loo to visit the palace park?
    No, this is not possible for the time being. In order to regulate the crowds in the parking lot, the parking lot is only accessible to visitors of Paleis Het Loo who have a valid online ticket. If you want to visit the palace park, you can use the Bosloo car park (opposite Pijnboomlaan).
  • Where can I park my bicycle?
    There are two separate bicycle parking spaces at the entrance at Amersfoortseweg; one for visitors of Paleis Het Loo and one for palace park visitors. Palace park visitors can also park their bikes at the avenue from the Naald (for the cattle grid).

Shop and Restaurant

  • Is the Museum Shop open?
    The Museum Shop has been reopened and has the same opening hours as the museum.
  • Is the restaurant open?
    The restaurant on the Stable Square, the Prins Hendrik Garage, is open. The number of tables indoors is limited, max. 4 people per table. Two tables are reserved for families. You cannot make a reservation for the terrace, ask our staff if there is a table available. See also The Ballroom is closed.
  • How strict are the arrival times?
    We ask visitors to arrive no earlier than 10 minutes before their time of reservation. In this way we can guarantee the distance between visitors and employees. If you are late, please contact one of our employees.
